Meeting with a Realtor

For some people, choosing a realtor could be the most stressful part of buying a house.  How can you be sure that the person you choose will best represent you and your interests?  How do you know that they’ll put in the time and effort to get you the best deal?  Luckily, I’ve known for a long time who I was going to reach out to when I finally decided to take the plunge!

I contacted Samantha Durand at HomeSmart Professionals.  I went to school with Samantha, all the way from Kindergarten through high school.  While we may not have been in the same group of friends, you can’t help but learn about the type of person someone is in that time.

She was, and remains today, one of friendliest and most genuine people I’ve met.

In the years since graduation I’ve had a good number of posts show up on my Facebook from Samantha…and almost every one showcases her passion for real estate and her dedication to her clients. I am so happy that I made the decision to ask her to assist me with this process and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a realtor!

Right from the start, she’s been incredibly helpful and informative.  The first meeting covered a lot of ground about what to expect going forward and lots of paperwork.  Of course, being the crazy person I am, I showed up with almost as much stuff as she did!  I had typed up a full page of criteria for my search that detailed what my dream house would be, the area I’d like to live in, and any compromises I would be willing to make.  However, the one line that summarized my ideal house: “The older the better.”

I knew going in that it was going to be difficult to find the type of house I wanted for the budget that I could afford.  But, from my years of housing market lurking, I’d noticed that it usually picks up as the weather warms and I was counting on that to be the case this year, too.  I didn’t want to compromise until I gave my dream house a fair shot..
